Canmore Pool
Respectful Pool User
- Please remove outdoor footwear before entering change rooms. This is just to keep the change rooms as clean as possible.
- Having a cleansing shower before entering the pool is mandatory. Showering helps rinse off any sweat, dirt, or body oils before they get into the pool.
- Proper pool attire is required. Bathing suits only. Please no under garments or anything with metal zippers and / or buckles.
- Children under the age of 7 must be within arms reach of a caregiver 18 years of age or older. Young children, due to their age and early body development, do not have the strength, endurance, safe judgment or swimming ability to be unsupervised or away from a caregiver.
- Children who cannot swim must be within arms reach of a caregiver or stay where they can easily touch the bottom of the pool. If a child is over 7 years of age but cannot swim, they still need to be with a caregiver. If a caregiver is not in the water with the child then a lifeguard will instruct them to stay in the shallow area where the child can touch safely.
- Those under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed in the pool. This will create a potentially dangerous situation for the intoxicated person, other patrons, and lifeguards.
- Horseplay, fighting, abusive language, and bullying will not be tolerated. Unsafe and unkind behaviour is unacceptable.
- Spitting, spouting, and urinating are prohibited. These activities are unsanitary.
- No diving in the shallow end of the pool. This is due to the risk of spinal injury. The "Shallow End" refers to the roped off area in front of the stairs and all the main pool area up to the pool ladders closest to the diving blocks.
- Supervising parents or guardians that are not swimming are to watch from the lobby, not from the pool deck. Having people sit on the pool deck takes up deck space that lifeguards and EMT's will potentially need to use during a rescue. It is also on average 31 degrees Celsius on the pool deck so there is a potential for heat exhaustion.
- Flips and back dives are not permitted off the rope swing or diving blocks. The deep end of the Canmore Pool is only 2.4 m or 8ft deep. This is not deep enough to safely perform these maneuvers.
- When going off the rope swing or diving blocks, make sure your landing area is clear of other people or pool toys. If you land on someone while using the rope swing or diving block, it could severely injure one or both of you.
- If you have flu like symptoms or diarrhea at some point in the last two weeks, then please wait a little longer before coming swimming again. You may still be contagious and any viruses or bacterial infections are more easily transmitted in water.
