Notification File: CAP1931 September 11, 2009 Dear Sir/Madam,
RE: ROAD RESURFACING - RUNDLEVIEW Please note the following tentative schedule. The schedule may change due to weather conditions:
-September 14-18: There will be base repairs on Rundleview Drive from Spray Lake Road to Olympic Drive, and on Olympic Drive. Two-way traffic will be maintained on these roads at all times.
-September 15-25: Micro-Surfacing will take place in stages on Rundleview Drive up to and including Olympic Drive, Patrician St, China Close and Prendergast Pt.
Work activity can occur from 7:00am to 10:00pm. West-Can Seal Coating is pleased to be “MICROSURFACING” in the Rundleview community. MICROSURFACING is an asphaltic technology utilizing 100% manufactured aggregate, mineral fillers, water and specialized liquid asphalt as its primary materials for the resurfacing. This product has low energy requirements, is environmentally safe and is 100% recyclable. It is an economical preventative road maintenance practice for the ratepayer, used to extend the life expectancy of weathered, but structurally sound roadways. Please note this surface treatment is not a traditional asphalt overlay. The products texture will be coarser than a standard hot mix overlay. The slurry seal is applied by truck or by hand in truck inaccessible locations. One can expect to see material overlap due to the standard construction practices. As this process does not utilize “rollers” this asphalt products’ curing time is highly dependent of weather conditions. Simply stated, the cooler the temperature, the slower the resurfaced lane can be reopened to traffic. Please do not drive or walk on the fresh slurry seal before it has cured (approximately 3-4 hours depending on weather). The uncured slurry seal is very sticky and will adhere to tires, footwear and clothing, staining them black.
Once traffic is allowed onto the slurry sealed road, please refrain from turning your steering wheel while the vehicle is stationary, or wheel spinning, as this could tear the fresh surface.
Parking Restrictions & Barricades When ‘No Parking’ signs are placed on your street, the street will be barricaded early the next working day. Please do not park on the street after the ‘No Parking’ signs are placed. Barricades are placed to protect the uncured slurry seal treatment and your vehicles from damage. Please do not enter the roadway until the barricades have been removed by the contractor. Please plan ahead by parking on an adjacent road until the resurfacing is completed. Vehicles that are left parked on your property will be stranded until the road has been reopened. If you need to have use of your vehicle please move it out in the morning before the work starts.
Notification will be delivered to effected residences 24 hours in advance of these interruptions. The staff at West-Can assures you, services will be able to reach your household during this construction period. Please feel free to talk to any of our trained traffic control personnel should you have any questions. In the event that our schedule changes, we will notify you as soon as we can.
