The Town of Canmore wants YOU!

We have something for everyone.  Community members with a variety of interests, experiences, opinions, and backgrounds are needed to serve on 9 boards and committees.

Subdivision and Development Appeal Board – Reviews appeals of decisions made by the Town regarding development permits and subdivision applications.  

Canmore Planning Commission – Works with the Planning and Development Department to review and make decisions on major commercial development permit applications, applying the Town’s Land Use Bylaw.

Vision Keepers Group – An advisory body that represents the interests of the larger community.  The group provides strategic guidance and advice to Council regarding the development and growth of Canmore, consistent with the core values and guiding principles contained in Mining the Future.

Environmental Advisory Review Committee - Provides advice and assistance to Council concerning the application of the environmental provisions of policies contained within the Municipal Development Plan.  Also advises Council on furthering public awareness of environmental and sustainability issues.

Canmore Library Board - Ensures quality library service for the community.  Programs include movie night, author talks, free access to the internet, speaker’s series, and story times, summer reading programs and special events for children.

Community Enrichment Advisory Committee – Responds and advises Council and Administration on matters affecting community Enrichment (Arts & culture, FCSS, Parent Link), Recreation and Parks. 

Community Public Art Committee – Works to foster an appreciation for the role of public art in our community and to ensure that a high standard of public art is maintained through planning, placement, acquisition, and maintenance practices. 

Bow Valley Regional Housing - Provides subsidized housing for families with low income, based on need.  BVRH also operates the Bow River Lodge, Bow Homes, and Mount Edith House (Banff) housing for seniors.

*NEW*Canmore Policing Committee - Provides oversight of policing with the Town by advising the officer in charge on the policing concerns and problems of the community.  The committee also serves as a communication vehicle back to the community.
